Abstract: This set of DVDs and a Memory Book are designed to stimulate memories and reminiscing by people with dementia. The DVDs are interactive trivia programs that prompt participants to discuss what they know and remember about five topics: the 1930’s, the 1940’s, the 1950’s, the Big Band and Jazz Era, and Ireland. Each DVD comes with a narrator’s script that that is used to encourage and guide conversation. The narrator can use the pause button on the DVD remote to allow time to incorporate sensory and motor activities into the activity and to give participants sufficient time for sharing their answers and reminiscences. The Memory Book is an 11-page, spiral bound booklet that can be used to hand record an individual’s memories. The completed booklet can become a keepsake for the family. Also, the memories can be helpful at a later time to assist in recalling past life experiences.
